Wirral Council’s Core Strategy Local Plan will decide how many new homes should be built in the Borough in the next 15 years. The Council has already identified a shortage of land to meet the Borough’s housing needs, and identified the release of land from the Green Belt as one of seven possible options to meet those needs.

The Council would need to conduct a formal review of all Green Belt land in Wirral.  Once this review was completed the Council would need to create a Land Allocations Local Plan, allocating specific sites to be released from the Green Belt for development.
